Door magnets

Electromagnetic locks are available in a variety of designs and characteristics with holding forces from 50 kg up to holding forces over 1000 kg. Electromagnetic locks contain no moving parts that can cause failure and the high magnetic holding force keeps the door effectively closed but still easy to open.

Electromagnetic locks can be divided into a few main groups with slightly different applications, see below.

    Cabinet lid magnets

These types of magnets usually have holding forces up to 100 kg and are relatively small. They are suitable for use in confined spaces such as cabinets and drawers. Available with optional door status sensors.

    Minimagnets

The holding force for this type of magnet is up to 300 kg or 2×300 kg for double magnets. Typical installations for this type are e.g. patio doors in retirement homes and other escape routes where it should be easy to open. The magnets can be provided with monitoring, if the door is locked or unlocked and if the door is open or closed.

    Sliding door magnets

The holding force for this type of magnet is up to 300 kg. Available in two versions recessed (SFU/SFM) and in a variant with a bracket for surface mounting (275-SL) Typical installation for this type of magnet is lightweight sliding doors. The magnets can be provided with monitoring, whether the door is locked or unlocked and whether the door is open or closed.

    Maximum magnets

The holding force for this type of magnet is up to 600 kg or 2×600 kg for double magnets. Typical installations for this type are e.g. escape doors in sports halls and other escape routes where it should be easy to open. The magnets can be equipped with monitoring if the door is locked or unlocked and if the door is open or closed.

    Shearlock magnets

A shearlock is an electromagnetic security lock, with a holding force of up to 1000 kg. The lock can be installed on all types of doors. The Shearlock is the ideal lock for swing doors and supervised emergency exit doors equipped with emergency exit locks. These locks combine magnetic and mechanical forces.
