How door material and frame choice affect your choice of el-sluttstykke

When choosing el-sluttstykke , it el-sluttstykke common to focus on security class and function. However, both the door material and the type of frame you have play a major role in how well the electric strike works and how long it lasts. The right combination makes installation easier and reduces the risk of problems, while the wrong choice can create unnecessary worries.

What is an el-sluttstykke?

An el-sluttstykke an electrical locking device that is mounted in the door frame and controls when the door can be unlocked or remain locked. It is a central part of electronic locking systems and is often used in conjunction with motor locks or access control systems to create secure and flexible door environments.

With an el-sluttstykke , you el-sluttstykke easily control access remotely, which is important in offices, shops, and public buildings where both security and convenience are needed. To achieve maximum functionality and durability, the electric strike must fit both the door and the frame.

How door materials influence choice

Different door materials place different demands on the electric strike. Wooden doors are affected by moisture and temperature and therefore require adjustable and flexible solutions, such as SAFETRON ES17, which is easy to adapt and maintain. Steel doors are heavy and stable and require el-sluttstykke higher capacity, such as ES22, which can handle high loads and offers advanced lock control.

Aluminum doors are lightweight but require careful alignment of mounting details to avoid wear and tear, where our stainless steel mounting posts and accessories can be of great help. Glass doors need special solutions to protect the glass while preserving the design, which our customized products can provide.

The importance of carcass selection

The frame is the frame of the door and affects both the installation and the functioning of the strike plate. Wooden frames are flexible and customizable, but require the right fixings for the strike to fit securely. Steel frames are sturdy and hold their shape well, but the end plate must be adapted for metal mounting, such as the ES19, which also has low energy consumption and multi-voltage. Composite frames provide good insulation but may require special solutions for installation.

Incorrect frame selection can cause the electrical end plate to be loaded unevenly, increasing wear and tear and the risk of problems. Our post guide will help you choose the right mounting post and avoid such problems.

How to match doors, frames, and el-sluttstykke

To ensure a secure and long-lasting installation, it is important that the electric strike plate is adapted to both the door and the frame. A heavy steel door and frame require an el-sluttstykke high capacity and advanced features such as the ES22, while a light wooden interior door can often manage with the ES17.

Also consider the security requirements of the property and how often the door is used. Our ES17, ES19 and ES22 models cover everything from basic security to advanced features such as fire rating and emergency escape.

Common mistakes to avoid

A common mistake is to choose el-sluttstykke considering the weight and material of the door. It is also easy to overlook the material of the frame and the mounting options. Finally, it is important to adjust and test the door after installation to ensure that it works properly.

Night lock vs Day lock, what to consider?

When choosing the right lock, there are two main options to consider, night locks and day locks. Both options have their advantages depending on where and when they are used. But what makes them different, and what should you consider? Here we go through the key factors to help you make the right decision for your home or business.

What is a night lock?

A 'night lock' is a more powerful lock that meets high security requirements. These locks offer extra security, usually during the night outside of business hours in a commercial property.

A night lock is actually another name for a lock that meets the security requirements set in SSF200, i.e. from lock class 3 according to the standard SSF 3522. To meet the requirements of lock class 3 and higher, a high mechanical performance is required through a hardened lock bolt - often a so-called hook bolt found in SAFETRON motor locks 6500 and 6600

Night locks offer high protection against tampering and provide a high level of burglary protection, making them suitable for doors that sit in the shell of a property.

What is a day lock?

Day locks are a simpler solution. They are easy to install and are well suited to doors that are not exposed to as high security risks but have high operational reliability requirements. Good examples of this are interior doors or office doors to be fitted with access control. Day locks are also a good choice in buildings where accessibility is a priority, for example for people with reduced mobility.

Day locks do not offer the same level of protection as night locks, but they are still sufficient to keep doors secure during the day or where the risk of burglary is lower.

What to consider when choosing?

Security and safety

First, the formal requirements must be checked, which will dictate which locking solution is required. In doors without formal requirements, night locks may be the best option if the door is exposed to higher security risks, such as back doors, basement doors and other exposed door environments.

Opening frequency

Day locks are usually best suited for doors that are used frequently. Day locks are designed to withstand high mechanical wear in harsh environments.

Accessibility

Day locks are often more suited to buildings with accessibility requirements, such as offices or public buildings. If ease of use is a priority, day locks can be a good choice.

emergency exit

Both day locks and night locks can be fitted with emergency evacuation accessories to meet the requirements of EN 179, which regulates personal safety and emergency evacuation. Keep in mind that an emergency evacuation accessory on a so-called night lock or motor lock lowers the security level from lock class 3 and higher to lock class 2B, which often needs to be anchored with the requirement maker.

Cost

Daytime locks are generally a lower cost and easier to install solution than night-time locks. If security requirements are not high, daytime locks are a better and more cost-effective option.

So, which lock should you choose?

The choice between night locks and day locks depends on your specific needs. If security is your main priority, in doors with formal requirements, leading outwards into a shell shelter or to exposed areas, a night lock is the best option. For doors where you don't have as high security requirements, a day lock can be a good choice.

Modern door security with access control

Door security technology has developed rapidly and there are now many different solutions to choose from. Something that has become more common and is an essential part of today's society is access control systems, which play a crucial role in modern door security. As time goes by, physical keys are becoming less necessary and there are a number of reasons for this.

We are moving towards a keyless society

Physical keys have long been the standard for door security, but they come with their shortcomings. They can be lost, copied without authorization, or can even become unusable.

With digital locks and electronic solutions such as tags, code locks and mobile-based systems, they offer not only higher security but also often increased convenience.

There have been several occasions when sensitive master keys have been lost, forcing the replacement of all sylinder an entire apartment complex, for example. Imagine instead that these problems can be avoided and that you can easily grant or revoke access and authorization for specific individuals without having to change locks. That is the future we are moving toward.

When are electronic locks the right choice?

In today's society, there are many situations where mechanical locks are not enough. One example is workplaces where many people need access to the same door, and you also need to keep track of who is coming and going. In these cases, an electronic lock is a good solution.

Electronic locks are particularly suitable for

  • Places with many users, such as offices, industry or apartment buildings.
  • Doors where traceability is important, for example for logging access.
  • Spaces that require fast and flexible access management.

Tamper protection in apartment buildings

Unsecured doors in apartment buildings are a common source of problems, especially if they can be tampered with or sabotaged. An access control system combining electronic locks and an administrative portal can solve this.

Modern systems are not only secure but also designed to withstand physical impact. This makes them ideal for protecting both residents and property.

What is an access control system?

An access control system is a holistic concept where electronic locks are controlled by a higher-level system through an often digital platform. It manages who has access to which doors and when.

Does someone need access to a specific room? No problem - just update the permissions in the system. It's a solution that makes it easy to stay on top of security.

The future of security is here

Access control systems and electronic locks are the future and will become more common in terms of door security and convenience, not only in commercial properties but also in residential homes.
